Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a way for consumers and farmers to come together and take pleasure in the enjoyment of fresh, local food. The following farms offer CSA in Western New York.
Arden Farms
Arden Farm has been a family farm for over 100 years. Their fruit and vegetables are grown without harmful chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Arden Farm strives to grow food that is healthy for your family and the environment. This farm was originally used to feed the Roycroft Community started by Elbert Hubbard. If you would like to work on the farm either as an intern or volunteer they are always looking for eager and talented people.

Types of Shares: Their share “Goodie Box” includes a bounty of fruits and vegetables that vary throughout the season. There are full shares which range from 5lbs to 15lbs per week depending on the time of season and are intended for 3-5 people. Partial shares are available and are intended for 1-3 people.
Dates Available: The shares begin June and go through October
Pickup/Delivery: Share pick-ups are Tuesdays between 4 and 7pm on site at the farm at1840 Billington Rd, East Aurora.
Busti Cider Mill and Farm Market CSA
Busti Cider Mill and Farm Market grow about 125 different varieties of vegetables using organic practices. The fruit is brought in from local farms and is not organic. They have been a CSA for five years.

Types of Shares: Busti Cider Mill offers a vegetable share and a fruit share. There is a small vegetable share and a small vegetable with fruit share, which feeds 2-3 people. Also available is a large vegetable share and large vegetable with fruit share which feeds about 4 people. For the Chautauqua Institute there is only one size vegetable share or vegetable with fruit share.
Dates Available: The small and large vegetable shares start from around mid-May to the second week in November, about 26 weeks.
Pickup/Delivery: All of the shares are picked up at the Busti Cider Mill and Farm Market. They are also planning a Chautauqua 9 week CSA for the Chautauqua season. This will be delivered to Chautauqua. Please contact them for more details.
Canticle Farm, Inc.
Canticle Farm, Inc. became a not for profit CSA in 2003, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, which is Certified Naturally Grown, which means no artificial pesticides or herbicides are used. They offer over 40 types of vegetables.

Types of Shares: Canticle Farm offers vegetable and fruit share in three different seasons: spring, summer, and fall. Large and small shares are available for each season; a large share feeds 4-5 people and a small share feeds 1-2 people for the 18-week season that begins in mid June and lasts until late October. Working and nonworking shares are available.
Dates Available: Spring season shares are available for 5 weeks from mid May to mid June. Summer season shares are available for 18 weeks from mid June to late October. For those who are interested in volunteering at the farm, their labor can be exchanged for a work share. Fall season shares are available for 5 weeks from late October to late November.
Pickup/Delivery: Produce is picked up at the farm one day each week. Canticle Farm also has a farm stand on the property, which is open during share distribution and we participate in the R.E.A.P. sponsored Olean’s Farmer’s Market. In addition, Canticle Farm, Inc. has periodic sales at the barn during the winter months
Fenton Farm
Fenton Farm has been in the produce business for over 25 years. They offer many varieties of vegetables from asparagus to zucchini. The only fruit they offer are blueberries. They want to bring the farm market atmosphere to their new CSA. They offer shareholders the opportunity to choose the produce they like versus being given a preselected bag of produce.

Types of Shares: Full shares are available and would easily feed a family of four. Also if you are a member of their CSA you will get discounts for their U-Pick operation which includes U-Pick Blueberries, Tomatoes, Peppers and Eggplant. They will also give discounts on bigger quantities - for example – if they are giving a 5# bag of potatoes that week but if you want a 50# bag you would be able to purchase it at the wholesale price not the retail price.
Dates Available: Begins in early June and goes through November
Pickup/Delivery: Pick-up only at the farm on Thursdays from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Gong Garden Farm
Gong Garden is a small family-run, organic farm that grows heirloom seeds using only organic methods. They are starting their third season in the faming business and are located only three miles outside of Fredonia in the Town of Arkwright. This coming season they will have an intern who will live in a yurt (a portable, felt-covered, wood lattice-framed dwelling)
located on the farm property.

Good Food Farm
Good Food Farm is a small CSA that caters to the personal relationship with its customers. The farm is located 15 minutes from East Aurora.

Types of Shares: Good Food Farm has a vegetable share and a chicken share. There are half shares and full shares, distributed weekly and biweekly. A vegetable full share feeds 2 adult vegetarians or a family of 4 people. A vegetable half share feeds an adult vegetarian or a family who wants to supplement more meals with vegetables. The chicken share ranges from 3.5 to 4.5 pounds of lean meat. Thanksgiving turkeys will also be available. Pricing of the share depends on the season.

Native Offerings Farm
Native Offerings Farm is a cooperative operating under the CSA model since 1997, reconnecting the community with its food source, the local farmer. They provide an alternative to agribusiness, consumers (shareholders, etc,) know exactly where and how their food is grown.

Porter Farms
In its 16th year of operation, everything grown on Porter Farms is certified organic by the Northeast Organic Farming Association (NOFA-NY). Some vegetables they grow include: peppers, tomatoes, melons, lettuces, spinach, winter squash, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, sugar snap peas, green beans, kale, collards, Swiss chard, turnips, cabbage, eggplant.

Pickup/Delivery: Pickup is on Saturday mornings between 9 and 11am. Buffalo members have the option to either drive out to the farm each week to pick up their share, or there are 8 different drop-off sites in the Buffalo area. For these sites members take turns driving out to the farm and picking up all of the shares for their group and then taking them back to the drop off sites. Promised Land CSA
Promise Land Farm believes that as stewards of the land they are responsible to grow their product as sustainable as possible and therefore without the use of chemicals. In their fourth season as a CSA farm, Promise Land continues to utilize organic practices, including composting, mulching, crop rotation and cover crops to build soil health and fertility.

Types of Shares: Promise Land CSA offers a vegetable share, a fruit share, and a flower and herb share. The vegetable share includes a large variety of vegetables and feeds 2-4 people. The fruit share includes Promise Land’s own strawberries, blueberries, and melons and feeds 2-4 people.
Dates Available: The vegetable season runs from mid May until mid November, approximately 25 weeks. The fruit season begins in July with sweet cherries and ends with the vegetable share in November, approximately 20 weeks. The Flower and Herb Share runs concurrent with the vegetable share and flowers begin as season allows and end with killing frost, approximately 25 weeks.
Pickup/Delivery: Oles Kids Farm Market, 3105 County Line Road. (1 mile north of Rt. 20 or 2.5 miles south of Rt. 33) Pickups are Tuesdays and Thursdays between 3:00pm and 6:00 pm. The delivery sites include: Park School Campus on Harlem Road, Snyder and Massachusetts Avenue Project, 271 Grant Street, Buffalo. Home delivery available depending on location to predetermined delivery route.
Roots & Wings Family Farm
Roots & Wings offers produce that is raised naturally from certified organic seed. CSA distributions are market-style, and offered in two locations in Chautauqua County each week. Boxed shares delivered to the Chautauqua Lake area are also available.

Types of Shares: One size vegetable share, generally enough to feed 2-3 people who eat a considerable amount of vegetables. Discounts offered for those who offer their talents, skills, time, and effort to growing the farm. 2009 season will be limited to about 25 shares, ideally split between two distributions. Fruits, baked goods, and cut flowers can be purchased at distributions as available. Landscape plants, hanging baskets, and vegetable transplants may be available at the farm in small quantities. Produce is also available at our roadside stand on Main Street, Cherry Creek.
Dates Available: Season starts early June and lasts until late October, depending on weather.
Pickup/Delivery: Pickup at the farm in Cherry Creek on Thursdays (or call to make other arrangements), or in Falconer on Wednesdays, both are “market style.”
Thorpe’s Family Organic Farm
Thorpe’s Family Organic Farm is certified through NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association). In their eighth season they continue to grow a wide variety of organic vegetables that are capable of growing in WNY, as well as all kinds of berries. They also have low spray tree fruits available.
